Charae profile

Charae Eh Sin

Hello, I am Charae,a full-stack developer from Malaysia, currently working on the platform team at Allocate Space.

My journey in tech begin with me installing Ubuntu in my Lenovo laptop (back in 2016/17 when I was studying aircraft maintenance in college), due to my Windows laptop was slow. That leads to me messing around with the terminal (reading Bash manual at one point), learning Python, and eventually discovering web development on freeCodeCamp.

Today, I enjoy going down rabbit holes, tech or otherwise, and trying to make sense of things along the way.

Professional Experience

Software Engineer

October 2025 – Present

Full-stack role where I’ve ended up touching a bit of everything: product features, APIs, builds, and the occasional infrastructure problem. The bigger pieces so far were helping combine three apps into one monorepo, updating the shared UI library (in a big branding revamp), and creating the second version of our report editor with TipTap (make it more Notion like).

Junior Web Developer

February 2024 – October 2025

Worked on the student-facing websites and internal tools used by education consultant at Malaysia’s largest university enrolment platform. Mostly helping making complicated education and application flows feel a little less complicated.

Full Stack Web Developer

August 2022 – September 2023

First job out of college in a company shipping SEO-related products. One of my favourite projects was building version history for a ProseMirror editor (something like in Google Docs). And have some experience working with the early day Open AI API (believe it's GPT-3.5 turbo at that time) for one of the SEO related product

Full Stack Web Developer Intern

March 2022 – August 2022

My first professional software role. Worked on reporting APIs, deployment pipelines, and data-heavy tables. React (class components! (opens in a new tab)), Redux, and Laravel were my best friends.

Projects

Ruam Thai

WIP

I’m rebuilding the website for Ruam Thai, a Malaysian Siamese (opens in a new tab) youth camp and community that has been running since 1993. It currently introduces the camp and preserves some of its history.

Currently exploring how it could grow into a directory that helps Malaysian Siamese find and connect with one another.
